A LORRY toppled over leaving it precariously perched on a steep embankment close to Bere Regis this lunchtime (December 1).
The vehicle was travelling from Bloxworth towards Bere Regis on the A35 when it tilted on to the bank just before midday.
A tree managed to prop the lorry’s trailer up as it hung over the bank, while the cab stayed on the road.
The driver escaped uninjured while special equipment was needed to recover the lorry.
The A35 was closed for more than three hours while the incident was dealt with.
Eastbound traffic was diverted from the A35 on to the A31 to the Roundhouse roundabout.
The road eventually re-opened at 3.15pm.
