Bournemouth-based music store Absolute Music opened its doors to offer free music lessons, workshops and live performances as part of its Learn to Play Day event.

More than 2,500 people travelled from far and wide to take advantage of the free day out, organised to help create new musicians and raise money for the Music For All charity.

Absolute Music's two-storey superstore and studio complex opened on the Knighton Heath Estate in Wallisdown last August, and has already proved a magnet for local musicians.

The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Bournemouth Councillor Phil Stanley-Watts.

It offered hundreds of people the chance to play instruments in the ‘Have A Go’ room, have one-to-one taster lessons on various instruments, take to the decks in DJ masterclasses or strum along with guitar and bass jams.

Visitors were also invited to join in energetic African drumming sessions, try Absolute Music’s new ‘Star For A Day’ recording studio experience, take part in children’s activities, watch live acts (including samba bands, choirs and rock singers) and browse around the store.

“The studios and store were busy with visitors all day,” said Absolute Music’s studio manager Dave Thomas. “It was great to see children and adults alike all trying something new.”

For anyone interested in trying something new or joining a music club, Absolute Music is offering free 15-minute taster lessons for beginners and launching some new music workshops for all ages and abilities, including choirs, drumming clubs, DJ classes, youth song/drama groups and toddler music sessions.

This is really great news. The staff at Absolute Music were very professional, informative and helpful in the past when I purchased a sound system from them. It is great to hear they are doing so well.

I am a beginner in learning guitar and thinking of purchasing an acoustic guitar to use during my practise. I would like your recommendation and kindly packages with guitar lessons would be great! Check this out:
