Top chef to appear at Foodie Show Dorset

INTERACTION: Chef Mark Lloyd INTERACTION: Chef Mark Lloyd

TELEVISION chef and forager Mark Lloyd is looking forward to some audience interaction when he appears at a festival of food in Dorchester.

Mark will be appearing alongside a host of other top chefs including Jean-Christophe Novelli at the Foodie Show Dorset, which will be held at the county town’s football ground from May 10 to May 12.

He said: “I love doing the live shows, it’s often a lot better than doing television because you get a live audience.”

Mark said he and other chefs wanted to make the event a success because it was the first time it had ever been held and he was confident they had a line-up to deliver.

He said: “They’ve picked very well with who they’ve got, Jean-Christophe is a safe pair of hands – he’s a fantastic chef.”

The Loughborough-based chef is no stranger to the South West, having spent two years in Devon after helping Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall open up River Cottage’s Axminster Canteen.

He also spent time working with former Masterchef winner Mat Follas at his Wild Garlic restaurant in Beaminster.

Mark said: “I love the South West, it’s a great place to be and every time I get the chance I go down there.”

The keen forager said the area was prime territory for his wild food exploits.

Mark said: “The great thing about foraging is you can pretty much do it anywhere if you’ve got a spare hour or two.

“But in Dorset and Devon you’ve got the sea, you’ve got the hillsides and you have got some established woodlands so there’s a great variation of wild food to be found there.”

Tickets for the Foodie Show Dorset are in high demand and are available from Tourist Information Centres across Dorset or by calling the ticket hotline on 0844 858 9068.
