TWO women arrested after the sports car they were driving smashed through the front of Bournemouth's PureGym window have been released without charge.

A Toyota Celica GT car ploughed through the main window of the 24-hour gym, at The Triangle, on Friday.

Recovery workers attending the scene said it was a miracle nobody was seriously injured.

Gym members were working out at the time of the accident, which ended with the car coming to rest near a row of exercise bikes. Several pieces of cardio equipment were damaged.

A Dorset Police spokesman confirmed: “ A 32-year-old woman from Bristol and a 27-year-old woman from Bournemouth were arrested to help officers establish what had happened. They have both been released without charge.”

PureGym remains closed for repair work. However, a spokesman told the Daily Echo they are working to ensure the premises reopens as soon as possible.

How can they be released with out charge, what sort of example does that set??!! Maybe I could throw a brick through Asda's window for no reason, get caught and walk away scot free.....plebs!!

Perhaps they arrested the wrong people?

If the two women arrested were in the car the driver will be prosecuted for fleeing the scene of an accident, no question about that. It's possible, although I'm merely speculating, that the driver had been drinking and fled the scene to sober up before coming forward and making an excuse for running away. A minimum one year ban and a big fine will suffice.

According to someone who witnessed it and posted here the other day it sounded like the owner had let their friend drive it, possibly without the required documents by the way they fled

If they got released without charge it means they A) Were nothing to do with it or B) Were involved but had a good story which meant the CPS wouldnt proceed. The police just do what they can do but their hands are tied with cases like this.

I am afraid you couldn't do that with a brick and walk away.

However if you drove your car through the window then you probably could.
