Tributes to man pulled from sea, Robert Wray
12:00pm Saturday 16th March 2013 in Latest
A BOURNEMOUTH community has paid tribute to a neighbour who died after being found at the beach on Monday.
Robert John Wray was found on the shoreline at Alum Chine on Monday morning and despite the efforts of passers-by and paramedics he was pronounced dead at Poole hospital.
It has emerged he had an apartment at Pirbright House at West Cliff Gardens, next to the beach.
Chris Colledge, chairman of the West Cliff Green Residents Association, said the community had been shocked at what happened.
He said: “It’s a tragic loss and he will be missed by his neighbours at Pirbright House. I understand he leaves behind a loving wife and two children and leaves a big hole in their lives.
“It’s a very sad situation.”
Mr Wray’s death is not being treated as suspicious by police.
His identity was not discovered until Wednesday and it was announced the 54-year-old was from Prestwood in Buckinghamshire, near High Wycombe, when his inquest was opened and adjourned.
It is understood his Bournemouth address was a second home.
