DETECTIVES hunting the driver involved in the Jade Clark hit-and-run say they have now eliminated more than 700 vehicles.
Officers from Dorset Police have been visiting Volvo XC90 owners in a bid to track down the person who knocked the tragic 16-year-old off her red scooter on the A31.
The driver left the scene before the police arrived and a £5,000 reward has been put up for information that leads to an arrest and charge.
Now DI Marcus Hester, pictured, of Dorset Police’s Major Crimes Investigation Team, says just over 700 vehicles have been seen and eliminated and a number of police forces are assisting them.
He said: “Someone out there must know where this Volvo XC90 is and I am appealing for them to search their conscience and come forward.
“You may have noticed someone who drove a vehicle matching this description acting differently or out of character in recent weeks.
“It may be difficult to come forward with this information but imagine yourself in the position of Jade’s family if this had happened to your son or daughter.
Her devastated family deserve answers.
“We have a team of dedicated officers hunting for this car and it is imperative we speak to whoever was driving this vehicle at the time of the collision.
“All calls will be treated with the strictest of confidence.”
Police are searching for a light coloured Volvo XC90 registered between 2003 and 2007, including vehicles with 52 to 57 plates and personalised registration plates.
Jade’s devastated family are asking mourners at her funeral on Friday to make donations to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The youngster was much-loved member of Ringwood’s Young Firefighters Association and a ride-out last weekend raised funds for the Ringwood Young Firefighters charity.
Her funeral will take place at Bournemouth Crematorium at 3pm and mourners have been asked to wear black with something pink.

After the press coverage about this vehicle I am surprised that no body knows of it parked up anywhere.
Whoever it is I hope they catch him or her and throw the book at them, they have had plenty of time to come forward.

Probably find this vehicle has either been scrapped or hidden away in a garage somewhere.

Assuming it was properly registered in the first place it is probably locked up in a private garage, that must be a ticking bomb for the owner eventually some one is going to realise or the police will knock on the door, even at this late stage they would be well advised to come forward.

If it would have had National coverage within days,maybe someone might have noticed it was missing from a school run etc while it was being repaired.
Fingers crossed that perseverance pays off.

As for it being scrapped, my uncle owns a scrap yard and you have to produce passport Id now and the police to frequent cheques on stolen cars etc. I just have a gut feeling we are all searching for the wrong car. They got the colour wrong to start with so there's no evidence the vehicle type is also incorrect. My heart goes out to Jades family and friends xx
