Police raid homes in Littlemoor for drugs
POLICE swooped on two addresses at Littlemoor in Weymouth in raids to track down drugs.
Officers executed the Misuse of Drugs Act Warrants at the properties in Selwyn Close yesterday morning.
They headed to the addresses at about 8am in response to information that suspected illegal drugs were being kept within.
Specialist teams searched the properties and drug paraphernalia was found at both but no confirmed illegal substances.
Police vowed to maintain their blitz on properties with suspected connections to drugs.
Lead officer Sergeant Gary Hole said follow- up investigations are underway.
He said: “We executed two search warrants under the misuse of drugs act in Littlemoor as part of our ongoing battle against crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
“Drugs paraphernalia was found inside but despite extensive searches no illegal substances were discovered.
“We carry out this type of warrant weekly, not just in Weymouth but across the entire force.”
He added: “My message to those who are committing these types of offences is that we know who you are and it’s only a matter of time until we catch you.
“We’ve only got to be lucky once but you’ve got to be lucky all the time.”
Officers headed to the addresses as part of their ongoing operation against crime and antisocial behaviour at Littlemoor.
Inspector Les Fry said: “Drug dealers have a significant impact on the welfare of many people, drawing them into crime and committing offences.
“We will do all we can to protect our community to make it a better and safer place for everyone.

“Drug dealers are a scourge on society.
“All the problems on the estate are related, drugs, crime and housing problems, dealing with one will help all of them.

“If anyone suspects there are people dealing drugs or has information please contact the police.”
nCRIME and anti-social behaviour have been plaguing the Weymouth estate.
There has been a spate of arsons and car break-ins in Littlemoor, with one woman suffering serious burns in a malicious fire in a park last month.
Dozens of residents came together at a public meeting on Wednesday, March 6, where it was announced that housing association Synergy will be taking legal action against a number of tenants.
There have been more than a dozen arrests in recent weeks on the estate which has led to one youth being handed an anti-social behaviour order, seven more subject to Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and another person in prison.

A resident of Selwyn Close, who did not want to be named, said: “We’ve had problem after problem for years now.
“This is the start of something and hopefully they will finish it off and deal with the rest of them.”
“It has been better recently and in the last few weeks more people are aware of what’s going on.”
