Works on major Dorchester route extended
WORK to resurface a main road into Dorchester has been extended.
Temporary night time closures while work is carried out on Weymouth Avenue had been due to finish in the early hours of Saturday.
However, the work is taking longer than planned and will now end in the early hours of Wednesday, March 20, with the road closed overnight on Monday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 19.
Dorset County Council claims the road was found to be in worse condition than expected so the resurfacing works will have to go deeper than planned.
The road is being resurfaced from the Maumbury Road junction to Sawmills Lane and diversions will be put in place during the night time closures.
