Disruption this weekend as section of M27 closes for repairs

TRAFFIC on the M27 will be disrupted this weekend as a large section closes for repair work.

The eastbound M27 near Southampton will close between junctions four and five for resurfacing work from 9pm on Saturday, March 9 and 5.30am on Monday, March 11.

The work is to change the angle of the road to stop the build-up of surface water.

Phil Sheppard, Highways Agency asset manager, said: “Safety is a top priority for the Highways Agency; the existing surface is liable to surface flooding during heavy rainfall.

“We have carefully planned the work, liaising with the local council and police, so it can be completed safely while keeping disruption to a minimum.”

Diversions will be in place for M27 and M3 traffic.

Good planning (as always) close one of the south coasts main routes, on Mothers Day!

What's the problem? You could find a reason not to close the road for any day of the year. If it was closed in the week, there would be knock on costs/losses to business and far higher traffic volumes.
