POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an alleged serious sexual attack on a Weymouth woman in her 50s.

Officers are investigating reports of an incident in St Andrews Avenue at around 7.30pm yesterday.

No arrests have been made but police are trying to track down a man who may have been in the area at the time of the alleged sexual assault.

Detective Inspector Stewart Dipple of Weymouth CID said: “I’m appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen a man or two people in St Andrews Avenue immediately prior to 7.30pm to contact Dorset Police.

“We are eager to trace this man or these people who we believe may have been in the area for some time before the incident.

“One person is described as a white, tall man wearing dark clothing.”
