I've been searching these cars for sale for a month now and saturday an identicle one popped up for sale at a dealers just under a 100 miles from here listed as just in and a bargain and they don't pop up often. I've been trying to tell the police all weekend but my mails have not been replied too. I know it may be a long shot but I have a little girl of my own and cant imagine the pain so if there is just the remote chance it helps I couldn't do nothing. If any of you guys can help its apreciated, I'm not interested in a reward just helping fellow parents. This the the link

Has anyone considered that the Volvo owner might not be a local person, thus he/she would not be aware of the furore in the Bournemouth Echo? If they were just passing and live in the West Country or were using the A31 with a view to turning off further on to go North, they'd not even be able to buy this local paper there.

Which is why I fail to understand why there has not been wider exposure in the national media. I cannot believe that such a tragic story has no interest or concern for the rest of the country.

The police said that they believe the Volvo was the first car to hit her. They might not be aware of what's in the Echo but they would be aware that they left the scene of a very serious accident thereby breaking the law.

I work in the Bucks area in the week and can't say I've noticed this story being broadcast on the BBC Oxford news, which is part of the South region!???

This HAS to get elevated to a national media story and soon before the trail goes too cold!!

Why are the police not contacting xc90 owners in the locality and checking there vehicles it makes no sense.

I understand that the police have to be sensitive in the information they release into the public domain, but do feel they could perhaps give the public a little bit more to go on here. They've told us they're looking for a Volvo XC90, possibly but not definitely silver. Presumably, this lead has come from one of the other motorists who arrived on this tragic scene soon after the initial collision. Did that same witness see which direction the Volvo drove off in? Did it go on along the A31, or up the slip road for the A338? (Although, from the roundabouit, it could still have rejoined the A31, or turned right towards Ashley Heath). The police are also stating that the Volvo will be damaged. Is this confirmed by the fact that some of the debris recovered after the incident came from this type of car? Or is it a guess? These Volvos are tough, and the damage may be minor, or even superficial. Come on, Inspector Butler, give us a bit more to go on, and keep this story at the top of the news section. Also, to the Echo, surely your media colleagues in the west can help here too, by giving this appeal more publicity, not just in the Bournemouth and Dorset Echos.

Such an awful loss, the death of any child must be unbearable for the parents, especially in these circumstances. I hope the driver comes to their senses and hands themselves in. If they dont, it is worth remembering that the Police have a very high chance of tracing the driver, but it will just take a long time.

Forensic transfer at the scene of the crash especially paint chip samples can be uniquely matched to specific vehicles, even re-sprayed ones. Also CCTV showing the cars route, filling up at petrol stations etc. will eventually provide evidence, as will the actions of the driver in trying to repair/ scrap/ abandon their car. Also if the driver has a mobile phone with them, (statistically very likely) then he/ she is as good as convicted. Triangulation of signal data transfer will locate their every move at the time.

I hope the police have or will send out a letter to all car breakers/scrap metal dealers, body repairs and mechanics to alert them to the vehicle and to ask them for driver/ reg details. This could end up being their best lead.

Just like the Heather Barnett murder, police will get there in the end. At the moment the police are looking for a needle in a haystack. But the needle is there, and sooner or later they will find it. Lets hope the national media can play a part in widening the search for this car and so speed up justice for the family.

That's what I was wondering (re the damage) as I used to own a Volvo (not this type) and they are built like tanks - someone smashed into the back of mine and it didn't have a mark on it. I wonder whether fragments of paint were found at the scene as the police seem pretty sure it will have been damaged. It would help tremendously if they revealed more.

Whilst I am sure the Police are working very hard on this tragic accident, I am a bit lost as to why they don't reveal as much info. as possible, I can only think that everyone else at the scene were so involved helping little Jade that everything else was bit blurred .. it can happen, I saw a serious road accident some years ago and everyone was just focused on the injured person .. but I do wish the Police would reveal as much as possible then we could all try to help.

If they had found paint fragments, I'd have thought they could then go so far as to confirm the colour, but they haven't.
I have reported one XC90 to the police that I found on autotrader, where the advert just seems a bit suspicious, and there is some very minor damage to the front wing. As it happens, that one is silver.

I'm doing the same where pos. I had been looking for one of those to buy since before this acident and I'd been searching nationally so can spot the new ones that turn up. It's a long shot but hopefully just something else that may just help
