A MOTORCYCLIST died after a two-vehicle crash in North Dorset.
The 65-year-old biker was treated at the scene following the collision between his Kawasaki and a Peugeot 207 car on the A350 between Charlton Marshall and Blandford St Mary on Friday afternoon.
Police said the rider, from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead on arrival at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester after being airlifted by the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. His next of kin have been informed.
The man, who has not yet been formally identified, was believed to be a skilled rider with more than 45 years’ experience of riding motorcycles.
Although details of this incident have yet to be revealed, residents who live near to the A350 said generally the road is known for being a fast stretch of carriageway.
Laura Mackenzie, 20, who lives near the crash site, said: “My dad saw the paramedics resuscitating the man on the side of the road. Then the air ambulance arrived and took him to hospital.”
She added: “It’s a really fast road. My family have lived here for six or seven years now and we said it was a matter of time before a serious accident happened. It’s really sad for the man’s family.”
A 22-year-old man who was driving the car involved in the collision, is helping police with inquiries.
Witnesses are asked to contact Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 22-227.
