Dorchester residents to get say on new housing proposal
12:30pm Thursday 21st February 2013 in Latest
DORCHESTER residents will be able to have their say on a proposal to build 1,000 new homes on the edge of the town.
West Dorset District Council is holding a drop-in session at its South Walks House offices on Wednesday, February 27 as part of the consultation process for the West Dorset local plan.
The draft local plan has been amended to include a potential 1,000 homes on land to the south east of the town between the A35 Dorchester bypass and the A352 Broadmayne road.
The area was included after objections were raised to the number of new homes proposed for Crossways, Beaminster and Sherborne in the original draft plan.
The drop-in session will run from 1pm to 7pm. Anyone unable to attend the event who wants to have a say can email s.policy@westdorset-weymouth. gov.uk. A reference copy of the consultation paper and comment forms are also available from the council offices and libraries in Dorchester, Sherborne, Beaminster and Crossways.

You can put a sea of new houses around Dorchester, but unless the Hospital is moved or expanded, and more schools etc. built (It's called forward planning I believe) things will fall apart.
