Firefighters tackle thatch fire near Bridport
DOZENS of firefighters tackled a thatch fire in Powerstock near Bridport.
Crews from Bridport, Beaminster, Charmouth and Dorchester rushed to the thatched-roof property at around 4.40pm this afternoon.
Around 45 firefighters helped to tackle the blaze and no one was injured.
Incident commander Stuart Jeneson said: "Crews did a fantastic job knocking the fire back and keeping property damage to a minimum.
"It was a small area of thatch involved adjacent to the chimney.
"We always recommend chimneys are swept and well maintained, especially in thatch properties."
