Police praise Bridport community after two men arrested

Bridport police officers have praised members of  the local community who provided information leading to the arrest of two men in the town for a number of theft offences.

A warrant issued under the Theft Act was executed at addresses in West Street and in Brydian Mews last Friday following tip-offs from local people.

As a result of the search suspected stolen mobile phones, smart phones and Ipads were found,as well as cash running into four figures. A 21-year-old and a 19-year-old have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Pc Scott McGregor said "This is part of the ongoing initiative taken by Bridport officers to tackle and disrupt the chain of acquisitive crime in the Bridport police area, and again demonstrates the value of information gained from the community, which if passed through to local police officers and Safer Neighbourhood Teams shows what tangible results can be achieved. “I would again reiterate the continuing need for such information to come from the community to allow us to take pro-active action in tackling crime within our town. It is my intention that such operations will continue and information acted on and developed allowing search warrants to be sworn out "I therefore appeal to the public to come forward with information to help us to help you.
