Coast path closures after cliff falls in Weymouth
NEW landslides have forced the closure of coast paths in Weymouth.
Access routes to the beach at Castle Cove and another in the Bincleaves area have been blocked for public safety reasons.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council and Dorset County Council will be working together to try to maintain an access route to Castle Cove Beach.
The cliff adjacent to the flight of steps down to the beach has failed and cracks are opening up across the path’s surface.
During the coming weeks the condition of the path and steps down to the beach will be monitored.
Following a cliff fall the footpath from Bincleaves has also been closed.

Typical - they spend years closing the bl00dy roads and now there finished its the coastal path! The council wallors still get their fat cat pensions! I've got to walk my dog on these beaches - risking our lives due to the county councils inability to react to what every local knows -we are sinking,! Do something now to protect our environment!

I don't think so.
We have no control over the elements and the collapsing cliffs around our coasts are testament to the appalling weather we have suffered of late. So do every one a favour and stay clear of the effected areas and don't become a risk to others.

I thought the council had their work cut out with the harbour wall. Now it appears they are responsible for countering the effects of Mother Nature.
Perhaps when the contractors have finished the harbour they could encase the entire Weymouth and Portland coastline in an impenetrable barrier of steel and concrete. You could walk Fido anywhere and the Condor could dock wherever it liked.
