New Weymouth hotel and restaurant to open on March 25
Whitbread has announced it will open its new restaurant and hotel development in Weymouth on March 25.
.
The new Beefeater restaurant and Premier Inn hotel will be opening at Gateway Business Park, bringing a total of 55 new jobs to the local area and injecting a total investment of over £6 million into the local economy.
A spokesman for the company said: "The Weymouth Beefeater restaurant will offer a relaxed and casual dining experience and feature a newly developed menu focusing on steak and classic dishes with a modern twist.
" Those familiar with the Beefeater brand across the UK will also spot new trial branding for the restaurants that will reinforce the brand’s steak heritage through a stylised pink cow logo and a new strapline “Passionate about steak”.

Great for jobs, but what's the point of opening a Travel Inn when we've already got one at Lodmoor and there is another one being built in Dorchester? I also wonder where the people are coming from, after all, there is nothing in Weymouth, and once WPBC have their way and demolish the Pavilion, there will be no reason for people to visit.
If it is really so bad here, please feel free to leave.
I'm happy to carry your bag to the train.

Great, some good news for a change. Just hope it does materialise, not to sure about the pink cow.

It's the already struggling hoteliers and guest house owners I feel sorry for, this will take away more business from them as they will struggle to compete.
These big hotel chains often offer a better room, at a better rate, with a better breakfast!

I suggest Stench has a look through tripadvisor and read some of the reviews for the "Bigger, better value hotels"

Plus kids eat free when an adult pays for the full breakfast. I have tried contacting several b&bs to work with when we are full to out book too, sadly no one in Weymouth wishes to do this. In Taunton i had a great relationship with several b&b owners and when we were full we sent guests to these businesses. Keeping visitors in the Taunton economy. Large chains have a massive interest in ensuring that the area they are in is successful, we also want people to come back. Occupancy is up and we had 1000 more people through Weymouth seafront in January than we did last year. These people went out to eat, visit attractions and spend money in Weymouth. Good for everyone i would have thought.
