Tomorrow, due to adverse weather conditions and extremely icy conditions in areas, the council will be collecting refuse and recycling from the main thoroughfares only.

The council will try and collect waste from as many places as possible where it is safe to do so.

If residents' waste is not collected they are asked to hold on to it until their next scheduled collection date.

Alternatively residents may choose to bring their waste to a main road for collection, but this is the householder's choice and only advised for where it will not block the pavement and is safe to do so.

See www.dorsetforyou.com/400334 for advice and frequently asked questions about waste collections and winter weather.

CAR PARKS

The district council is endeavouring to keep car parks in West Dorset clear and make them as safe as possible.

Despite clearing and gritting some car parks, including Wollaston Road Car Park in Dorchester and Dorchester Park and Ride, some car parks are still icy in places and people are advised to use extreme caution should they choose to use them.

Some roads going into car parks may be hazardous so we advise motorists to use care and common sense when driving in these difficult conditions. Car parks in Weymouth and Portland are clear and open.

OTHER COUNCIL AND PUBLIC SERVICES

For information about school and library closures and other services, such as household recycling centres, day care centres, gritting and roads go to the homepage of www.dorsetforyou.com and look for the winter weather featured content.

I wonder if the 'journalist' who copied and pasted this information actually read through the finished article to take out repeated information, and add the full stops missing between sentences, etc?

So we who live in Westham in Weymouth and did not get our bins emptied on Friday because of the 3mm of snow now have to keep a months worth of rubbish in our gardens-the people running this "service" are a joke just like the council department that gave them the contract in the first place. GET REAL PEOPLE and get the bins emptied THIS WEEK.
