Teams went out at 2pm today and will go out at 4am tomorrow to spread salt onto the main routes around the county.
Dorset County Council sends out teams to salt the 680 miles of major routes around the county when conditions are 'damp and road temperatures are forecast near freezing or before snow.'
The Highways Agency is responsible for salting the A31, A35 west of Bere Regis, and A303 trunk roads.

Met Office reports indicate a weather warning for Friday covering the whole of the South West including Weymouth, Portland, Dochester and Bridport.
Valid from: 9am on Fri Jan 18 until 11.55pm on Fri Jan 18
As the weather breaks down, there is the potential for a spell of snow to spread from the southwest. As winds strengthen, blizzard conditions are a possibility, especially over high ground. Accumulations of 2-5 cm are possible quite widely and in some locations, especially higher ground, 15 cm are possible.
The public should be aware of the possibility of travel disruption. This warning is likely to be updated over the next few days.
12:53pm
Weymouth Terras' pitch has passed an inspection for tonight so the game will be on.
However there are icy conditions on some off the terraces and for health and safety concerns certain areas will be closed off.
12:22pm
Met Office weather forecast is looking sunny and bright, if cold, for the rest of today and tomorrow.
Friday could see some light snow in Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland.
The Met Office currently has NO weather warnings in place for the South West for the rest of the week.
