Driver rescued from floods (From Thisisdorset)

I hope this dozy driver gets sent a bill from the Fire and Rescue folk.There areenough signs around.

Indeed, Exocet. Why do some people feel the need to ignore signs, and the obvious flooding which occurs on the West Stafford bypass. It isn't as it if was flooded a few weeks ago and people ignored signs, got stuck and needed to be rescued.

Maybe that driver needs to have their license taken away on the grounds they are incapable of following instructions!

Why are we seeing the same old spots continually flooded and impassable year in year out !!! West Stafford, Lawrence of Arabia’s House, East Burton Lane, East Knighton on the A352. Dorset Highways have had years to come up with a solution to these hot spots, or should I say wet spots. There is no excuse what so ever for these roads to get into the state they do with the correct drain away systems in place. They will use every excuse in the book, water tables, adjacent farm land and high laying ground, its all total lies and nonsense. They should have KPIs set each year, as most businesses do, and be pulled up over their performance, or lack of it. Main routes should be kept clear at all times come hell or high water, yet these people are sat in the depot drinking tea or attending their Christmas party. The council will still be after your votes very soon, why, they achieve the square root of FA every year. Someone taking the chunky salary each year needs to be brought to book. Waste of space.

Sunny1966. You sound like one of the know-it-all armchair experts. There is no system that can be designed to cope with the extreme weather conditions we have had recently. You can only alleviate a problem, it cannot be cured.Highway drainage systems go to soakaways. When ground is waterlogged in con junction with high water tables, where is the excess water going to go?. All is happening is that the problems is being passed further down the line, therefore putting other properties and roads at risk. If you, 'sunny1966' can come up with a workable answer, then you can call yourself God.

If this was 1960, you'd probably say people were crazy for thinking we could send a man to the moon?

Money is the ONLY thing stopping roads from being maintaned and proper flood preventions being installed...

Eh? I thought the article said the car drove into the flood water and that there are warning signs both ends. What else is there to know.

Yes if you spent loads of money you can solve most things.

However we have for the moment run out money.

These idiots who continue to ignore 'Road Closed' signs should be left to their own devices when subsequently they get into difficulties.
