Bournemouth dog training club is barking mad at hall snub

A DOG training group has been left fuming after being turfed out of its home with just a few days notice.
The team behind Fun 4 Dogs, which has been running for around four years at Tuckton Social Club in Tuckton Road, Bournemouth, said they have been told that they will not be able to use the new hall nearby because the committee running it fears the oak floor will be damaged.
The old hall is due to be demolished shortly. It has left Christine Walton and Nicky Smith, who run the group, desperately trying to find new premises to continue with their courses.
The chairman of Tuckton Social Club, John May, said it was a decision that had not been taken lightly.
Christine, however, said: “Before Christmas we had a letter to say we were moving over and we thought there was no problem whatsoever.
“I had a phone call on New Year’s Eve in the morning to say they didn’t want us to have the hall at all. I said we would guarantee that we would not damage the floor and if it is we will pay for it because I am 100 per cent certain due to the matting we use that it will not happen.
“I think we’re being victimised because it’s dogs. It’s been hard to sort somewhere else out – we have three more sessions to go on this course. I’ve tried everywhere and a lot of the halls and church halls are full.”
The group is appealing to anyone that can help them.
Nicky added: “They haven’t spoken to us face-to-face. We pay three months in advance, so they should have given us three months’ notice.”
John May, chairman of Tuckton Social Club, said the decision came after a meeting with the new hall’s builders last week.
“One of the questions we asked was does the floor scratch, because we have two dog groups; we were told it would.
“This decision hasn’t been taken lightly. We all love dogs, but we have an expensive oak floor put down for dancing and activities.
“They haven’t paid up front for the hire of the hall, so we don’t have to give them notice, although we would have liked to have done. We will try to keep them in the old hall for a few more days if we can. We will do anything we can to help them.”
If anyone has a lock-up, barn, workshop, outhouse, hall or industrial unit the group can use for one night and one afternoon a week, they should contact Christine on 07719 605705.

Someone realises that dogs dont belong indoors.
They are animals and oak floorboards and animals just dont mix.
The only other sensible bit in the whole sorry saga is that the people are looking for a barn, thats where animals belong.

Because if you know anything about timber you would realise that claws, (please retract yours), are not the issue here. The problem is that a heap of uncontrolled mutts (that is why they go to trainingg school) have accidents and STAIN oak floors.
That is why animals(that includes dogs) should be left outside.
I am sure that you are not a dog so why would you infer that I wear my wifes shoes. Unless you own a female dog (what are they called?).

You'll probably find the hall owners have found someone willing to pay more than the dog lot, so have come up with a handy excuse to get shot of them. Perhaps the place is run a a bunch of mad cat ladies?

Got nothing against dogs or dog owners (as long as they are responsible), and it's a shame about the loss of the hall to them, but it's the hall's choice regardless of the reason's.
I do hope they find somewhere else soon though :)
Oh, and whilst I'm here, please do not let your dogs sit on the seats on the bus...it's bad manners, dogs can carry parasites and again...Dog Hair!

In the winter how can people train outside in the pitch black....people of all ages used this hall for training their dogs, young and old...these people trying their best to have well behaved dogs and training puppies outside in a big field isn't ideal as there are too many distractions especially if you are trying to install basic training!
As for the new hall, will everyone be wearing slippers so not to scratch the floor....I've never heard anything so rediculous? The committee members sound like a right lot of jobsworths, the only bit of power they have in their lives no doubt!

The difference is, is that people control their dogs here, not the other way around.
The only problem that I have had was when I was fishing on an almost deserted beach and a dog came up and urinated on my shoes (I wasn't wearing them).
When I pointed out what the dog had done the owner(in an English accent), said "Which dog?".
There was not another thing on the beach for 300 metres.
She was obviously one of your mob!
