VIDEO: Coastguard called to rescue cliff fall dog at Swanage

THE coastguard was called after a dog went over a cliff at Old Harry rocks near Swanage.

Portland Coastguard received an emergency call yesterday morning reporting a springer spaniel called Beau had fallen over the edge and was swimming in the sea below.

A local fishing boat Shania was contacted and its crew found the dog on some rocks and stayed at the scene until it was retrieved.

Swanage Coastguard officers and RNLI lifeboat went to the scene and rescued the animal.

It was returned to its owners on South beach, Studland, and had not suffered any major injuries.
