THE Matrix training centre in Bridport has received a £1,000 donation from the Bridport Round Table towards IT equipment.

The donation, the second of three pledged by the round table over a three year period, is an expression of the ongoing support being given towards training young people in the area.

Hugh Matthews, chairman of the Bridport Round Table, said: “I was very impressed with the facilities at the Matrix.

“I was delighted that both individuals in the local area and employers will be able to benefit from the facilities, helping to improve skills, knowledge and business techniques.”

The new training centre was opened last year by Yeovil College. The new equipment will go in its IT suite.

Jayne Lewis, vice principal for participation and development at Yeovil College, said: “We are really pleased to have a training centre in Bridport that can offer some very localised, yet specialised training opportunities in engineering and composites.

“We are also proud of our partnerships in the community with local schools, forming strong links over the past year.”
