Hamworthy residents endure fourth set of roadworks in four months

Traffic queues build up in Blandford Road, Hamworthy as emergency road works take place at the junction of Turlin Road
FRUSTRATED residents said they are enduring the fourth set of roadworks in four months on a busy road – and motorists are queuing for “at least half an hour”.
Carl Drury is among the people living on Blandford Road in Hamworthy, Poole, who have seen Wessex Water repeatedly dig up their street.
The latest works taking place near the petrol station have been blamed on a void under the road and Wessex Water and Poole council are due to meet today.
Carl told the Echo: “It’s the only road in and out and I have been stuck quite a few times for at least half an hour.
“It can take people an hour or so at rush hour. Once you are clear of the roadworks it’s fine.
“Last time they finished work they left a hollow so deep you almost dived into it as you drove over it.
“They have dug right down into the foundations this time. We have had so many bursts and problems here.”
Wessex Water had believed heavy rainfall had caused the void but the council has asked for the work to stop while it investigates.
A Wessex Water spokesman said: “After liaising with the council they have asked us to stop work until they can carry out investigations into what has caused the void.”
The council will visit the site today and four-way traffic signals will remain in place at the Turlin Road junction.
“Delays are expected so we encourage anyone using the route to allow extra time for their journeys,” the spokesman added.
Wessex Water apologised in May after a 40-metre section of cast iron water main burst for the third time in a month.
The damage cut supplies to Turlin Moor and eight vans toured the estate giving out bottled water on request.

More incompetence courtesy of Wessex Water.
In a word disgusting and they should be refunding monies paid to them in water rates!
