30 fundraisers tackle Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Bournemouth girl

A GROUP of fundraisers will tackle the notorious Three Peaks Challenge to raise cash for a charity set up in memory of a Bournemouth girl who died from a rare form of cancer.
The near-30-strong group will set take on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon – the tallest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales – on June 23 and 24 in aid of the Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund, set up by Chantel Cooper, 30, and Karl Cox, 36, in memory of their eight-year-old daughter Amelia-Grace.
She died in 2010 after a long battle with stage four neuroblastoma, a rare cancer that usually occurs in children under five, and her parents set up the charity to help Dorset children with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
The latest fundraising challenge is hoping to drum up £5,000 for the charity, which has actress and Strictly Come Dancing champion Kara Tointon as its patron.
Karl said: “We’re doing it on Amelia’s anniversary, so it will be quite poignant.”
Chantal added: “We put an advert out for people on our Facebook group, so it’s people we know and friends of friends as well, along with aunts, uncles and grandparents of Amelia-Grace.
“We’re the only one as far as we’re aware that grants non means-tested grants to children with any condition. Because of that we’re hoping people will take it on as their charity.”
