DORSET County Council’s cabinet has vowed to learn the lessons from transport failings at the beginning of the school year.
The authority launched an investigation following a number of problems back in September, including children being left stranded at the side of the road when their school transport failed to turn up.
The council's audit and scrutiny committee held three meetings to look at the issue and made 23 recommendations covering issues such as ensuring there is time for drivers to get CRB checks, an implementation strategy for contract procurement, the time given for contract operators to mobilise and communications between the authority and operators.
Much of the complaints centred around Damory Coaches, which operates the majority of the school routes, but the final report said both the council and Damory could learn lessons from the situation.
Chief executive David Jenkins said an officer from the council would be assigned to monitor each individual recommendation, with the progress overseen by a head of service who would report back to the authority's Strategic Change Board.
Council leader Angus Campbell said: “This has got to be something that pays back the study and hopefully not only will we learn lessons from this but that experience will be farmed out to others before this can happen again.”

The typeface in the 'Comments' part of the website has been changed and in my opinion is less readable.
I don't think that it is necessary to go back to the 'italics' but a similar typeface to the main text would be better for me.
I know that I can make all text larger on the screen but that means that there is less content on the screen.
