Confusion at collision scene with police car

Reader Ben Wilde sent us this picture of a damaged police car and private vehicle at the scene of a collision in Poole on Sunday.

Mr Wilde, who lives close to where he saw the wrecked vehicles on a section of Commercial Road near the Ashley Cross traffic lights, said he had been watching television when he heard sirens followed by a loud bang at about 7pm.

Police officers had asked him not to take photographs, said Mr Wilde, but he had insisted on his right to do so.

Ambulances and low loader recovery trucks arrived at the scene, where police remained until 9pm, he added.

Dorset Police have not responded to the Daily Echo’s enquiries so far.

South West Ambulance Service Trust said they had no record of the incident.

Funny isn't it how when the cops have the cameras they tell people that they can film what they like in public, but they have an accident, it's a different story
Well done Ben Wilde

For all the obvious Police bashers that will undoubtebly post, the truth will come out. Just because they asked people not to take photographs might have been out of respect for the other driver involved, nothing more, but as usual people stick their nose in if there's any suggestion that the Police did any wrong.

Nice to see some people have already made up their minds.
Wouldn't like you on a jury if I was on trial.

Well done indeed Ben Wilde.

Ben Wilde for Mayor!!!

Ben Wilde for Leader of Bournemouth Council!!!

At least he shows what a camera and a laptop should be used for unlike our alleged spanker of monkeys!!

Strange though how SWAS had 'no record' at attending an RTI????

"Ambulances and low loader recovery trucks arrived at the scene, where police remained until 9pm, he added"............. So SWAS has no idea where it's ambulances are or what they are doing? That's reassuring. It is possible that it was for respect for the other driver that the Police asked him not to film, but as News crew do it all the time, I find that unlikely. It sounds more like the Policeman involved just didn't want a public record of his red face or may'be a photographic record right after the accident might not match the facts in his note book? As for people making their minds up already, the Police of course treat everybody as innocent until proved otherwise do they?

I wonder where the ambulances came from? No records? Police requesting no photographs? What happened to the civvy driver? I smell a Police cover up?

I actually witnessed the accident, I really do hope the Echo print the story when it actually comes out. Until it does though, all I'm going to say are the Police bashers going to admit they're wrong them it does come out?

I can fully understand why the Police asked for no photographs to be taken having recently witnessed an accident in Broadstone were a passer-by took photographs of the injured and trapped women driver with his mobile and commented
" I need to get this onto You tube straight away" before quickly disappearing. When you have sickos like that around it is no suprise that the Police object. Any collision involving a Police vehicle has to be investigated differently to any normal RTC so forget the Cover up and conspiracy theories and wait for the truth when it comes out.

As it will find the Police weren't at fault, I doubt that it will be printed though, as it won't sell papers.

If you read Mr Wildes comments correctly you would see that the Police Officer did'nt tell him not to take photographs he asked him not to, a big difference. I have to ask don't you think its a little odd taking photographs of car accidents, however they get there kicks I suppose.

It's in the public interest, I drove past the scene and wondered what had happened.

I have a right to know what has happened to my taxes and thought it strange that the story was not in yesterdays Echo.

Exactly why the Echo probably haven't or won't print it as although the Public may be interested, it's not going to sell papers as there's no scandal, cover-up or anything else.

Anyone thought that as it is an RTA, and involving the Police, that all the facts are needed before anything is released. Often on hears reports on the news of similar, and find it was 4 or 5 days ago. Instead of throwing the rope over the branch, why not wait for the facts to come out, if there is anything to report.

All high speed emergency vehicles should be fitted with 'black box' data and voice recorders of the moments leading up to unfortunate incindents like this. Sadly they are not.

It would prove without a doubt of the speed, location, driver responses and background as to how this happened.

i hope all involved were not injured and the truth prevail whichever way it goes.

Accidents happen. Police officers are as prone to them as the rest of us. They are human after all. I just hope that, assuming this officer is guilty of causing it, he holds his hands up to his mistake, unlike the one who knocked me off my motorcycle in 1988 and pleaded not guilty to Driving without due care despite witnesses. Also, i hope the courts deal with him better than they did back then when they gave him a £100 fine and 3 points despite myself being left in intensive care for 3 weeks and hospital for 4 months. I just hope things have changed now. The request to not take a picture (evidence) was a disgrace though.

You gonna ask the Echo for a job then Ben?

That's a laugh - the Echo does NOTHING to inform it's readership. It thrives on scandal, speculation and antagonistic views.

It's banner may be blue, but it's no better than a local tabloid!

The reason SWAS had no record was that the crew were driving by at the time and just stopped to see if everyone was okay...no patients conveyed to A&E so no job history.

Me wonders if PC Dimbley attended Bournemouth A&E a few hours later under his own steam?

Therin lies the problem with the local Feds, employ 10 year olds......! I used to totally respect the Police but now, well they just dont even bother earning it.

I'm sure most are motivated simply by the wish to ensure that the truth comes out so the police do not get wrongly accused.

Another Police basher, why not change the record and play something else, or does that go against your stone-age train of thought, ie the Police officer was guilty even though he didn't do anything wrong!
