TRAFFIC chaos hit Weymouth after two crashes within seconds of each other.
The first collision on Weymouth Way between Chafeys roundabout and Westham roundabout involved a silver Nissan Micra and a white Ford transit yesterday morning.
Soon afterwards a white tipper truck collided with a green Renault Clio heading in the same direction.
A male occupant of the Ford Transit was taken to Dorset County Hospital with suspected spinal injuries but was later discharged.
The male driver of the Renault Clio suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics for cuts before being taken home. Paramedics also treated the female driver of the Nissan Micra at the scene.
Weymouth Way was closed for just over an hour from the Chafeys roundabout to the Westham roundabout.
Police arrived at the scene at around 9.30am and closed the road until 10.40am.
The Nissan Micra is registered to a Weymouth woman and the white Ford transit is registered to a Northampton company.
The white tipper truck involved in the second accident is also registered to a Northampton company and the Renault Clio is registered to a Weymouth man.
Although the accident occurred just after much of the work traffic had passed, many drivers were delayed by the road closure.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: “In these icy weather conditions motorists should ensure their windscreens are clear and have been defrosted properly before starting their journey.”
Snow is forecast to hit Dorchester and Bridport over the weekend and the temperature in Weymouth is due to drop to -4C tomorrow night.
