A MAN was seriously injured after the car he was in overturned on the A3049 outside Poole’s new fire station in the early hours of Monday morning.
He was rushed to Poole hospital after the incident on the eastbound carriageway at the A350 Holes Bay North Roundabout, but was later transferred to Southampton Hospital.
A 21-year-old man left the scene and sparked a police search. He was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a passer-by in Wool reported a man was lying in the road at 4.20am.
The two other occupants of the car, an 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were also arrested.
Police are trying to trace the male driver of a Ford Mondeo, who rushed to the fire station to report the accident.
Poole traffic was brought to a standstill on Monday morning as huge tailbacks afflicted the area.
The road finally re-opened around 1pm. The accident, involving a green VW Passat, left a large amount of debris on the road.
