A “local celebrity” has opened a new branch of Boots in Blandford.
Dr Joan Davies (retired) of the town’s Eagle House surgery was chosen in a vote among staff at the Market Place pharmacy to cut the ribbon on the re-branded premises.
Store manager, Emma Hussey, said colleagues had been asked to vote for a local person to perform the official opening.
“Dr Davies went straight to the top of the poll. She’s a bit of a local celebrity. A lot of the staff have known her for many years.
“She’s often in the shop, and some of the people who work here have been her patients,” said Emma.
The store has become Blandford’s third branch of Boots after previously trading as Alliance Pharmacy, and employs 12 local people.
