A PCSO from Blandford has raised thousands of pounds for the fight against cancer after swapping the streets of the Georgian town for the Great Wall of China.
Jamie Burt has returned to his North Dorset posting after a 10-day trek along a section of the wall in the Yanshan Mountains, which raised more than £4,000 for Cancer Research UK.
“It was an amazing challenge and experience and despite all the blisters, it was worth every step,” said PCSO Burt.
“It feels great to have completed such an epic trip and to have raised a huge amount for a worthy cause,” he added.
The Blandford officer covered a total of 80 kilometres of the wall’s rugged terrain, including the 300 steps of “Heaven’s Ladder”.
The fund raising mission began before PCSO Burt had left Blandford.
A charity football match, and a raffle to which businesses in the town donated prizes, were among the events he had organised.
