A PIECE of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding cake is up for auction in Wareham on June 2.

The 28-year-old slice of history is still in its original presentation box and was given to the seller, who was a member of the Royal Household at the time.

An official five-tier cake was made for the wedding but this piece came from one of 22 other cakes made for the ceremony.

The seller has also kept cake from the wedding of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

Last year a slice of icing from one of the cakes sold for £1,000 at auction in Gloucestershire.

John Condie from auction house Cottees said: “We have done well with royal-related memorabilia in the past and on offer again this time will be two more of Princess Diana’s personally signed Christmas cards from 1994 and 1995 along with five signed by Prince Charles.

“We will be hoping for more international interest in these items and there is still time for anyone with similar items to enter them into the auction.”

The sale starts at Cottees East Street premises at 10am.
