COMMUTERS faced traffic chaos around Poole lst night after an accident on a main route.

The A3049 Dorset Way was shut eastbound for several hours after a car and a van were in collision at Oakdale Road.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were called at around 3.30pm and said that a female was trapped in the car as a result of her injuries.

Crews worked to remove her from the car and cut the roof off to get her out. She was treated for suspected spinal injuries by paramedics.

At 6.15pm drivers were still reporting severe tailbacks. The road was closed until after 8pm.A second accident on the A350 at the Old Wareham Road junction in Lytchett Matravers closed the road in both directions for several hours from 6pm.
