DORCHESTER Chess Club players marked their 25-year celebrations in style by winning the Silver Jubilee Jamboree trophy.
County town players went head-to-head with counterparts from Yeovil, Bridport, Wimborne, Weymouth and West Dorset in the six-team showdown.
Dorchester came out on top, finishing their Silver Jubilee year on a high by regaining the prize from previous winners Yeovil at the Colliton Club contest.
The six-man team's victory was by the narrowest of margins, as they finished above their Somerset opponents by just half a point.
Club secretary Frank Fallon said he and fellow players Kevin Goater, Mike Lewis, David Hardie, John Dalzell and Brian Longson were delighted with the win.
Mr Fallon said: "Dorchester Chess Club welcomes new members of any standard. We meet on Thursdays at the Colliton Club in Dorchester."
