Model citizens aid Red Cross

MODELS showed off the latest fashions in Dorchester to help raise money for the Red Cross medical loans service.

Organiser Sue Every said the Travelling Trends fashion show raised around £1,000 for a new vehicle for the service to cover the south west.

She said: "It was a fantastic evening. I'm absolutely thrilled. It went so well and everyone had such a laugh."

Mrs Every, who is based at Dorchester Red Cross, said the money will go towards the £28,000 cost of providing the new vehicle - more than £22,000 has already been raised.

The Travelling Trends show at Dorchester Middle School saw the team of models parade this season's high street store clothes chosen from the wide range on offer to the public at greatly reduced prices. The models - all local volunteers - were Michelle Every and Ann Robinson, Livvy Dennett and Francesca Dornan from the Thomas Hardye School sixth form, and Sylvia Dennett and Margaret Long from the Red Cross.

Proceeds were boosted by a raffle of gifts donated by On the Table, Owen and Simpson, Toni and Guy, Halfords and Sports Gear Weymouth.
