OLDER people are being invited to try in-line skating in a programme called Fit as a Fiddle.
The event is being staged at the Holy Trinity Parish Centre in Culliford Road North, Dorchester on August 28.
It is to give people aged 55 and over a chance to try activities to see if they like them.
Organiser Magda Wawrowska, of Age Concern Dorchester, said: "Don't think that getting older means sitting in a chair and doing nothing.
"We are inviting people, regardless of their level of fitness, to take part in taster sessions for a number of physical activities including one or two that may seem a bit different from the norm.
"Sessions include table tennis, tai chi, yoga, belly dancing, Pilates, chair line dancing and even in-line skating."
She added: "People sometimes have a preconceived idea of physical activity for the older generation but as the population of Dorset is getting older, more and more are still very active and looking for something new to try.
"This event will give people information on what is out there for them and allow them to have a go at one or two things that they may have wanted to do but not had the chance."
Visitors will also be able to find out more about healthy eating and take part in food workshops.
The Fit as a Fiddle programme is supported by funding from the National Lottery.
