JOIN a crowd of 3,000 for a community party in Shaftesbury this weekend.
The Rotary Club of Shaftesbury's Gold Hill Fair this year is raising money for Help For Heroes who are building a swimming pool for wounded veterans, and they are raising money to support Shaftesbury town swimming pool.
It kicks off with a Grand Parade on Saturday which starts from noon at Angel Square, at the bottom of the High Street, goes down Gold Hill and to St James Park.
The parade, by local schools, will show off three weeks of work done in community workshops to create flags and paper mache creations.
The procession will be led by rousing music of the Wessex Highlanders.
There will be a mix of entertainment during the day.
In the Abbey Gardens from 2pm to 4pm there will be a circus skills workshop of plate spinning, juggling, unicycling, balancing and illusion.
Tickets for this event run by Circus Berzercus are available from the venue and tourist information.
At Gold Hill Museum on Saturday there will be drop-in sessions covering medieval herbs, food and armoury between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
These are aimed at children with fun hands-on activities and demonstrations exploring life in medieval times. Children must be accompanied at all times.
Wayne Jukes presents a line up of local artists in St James Park from 3pm to 8pm.
On Saturday evening in the Abbey gardens there is a barbecue and bar followed by a 7pm performance of A Komedy of Errors by Circus Berzercus.
On Sunday the fun continues with a French market, Wessex Highlanders playing and scores of morris men and country dancers performing in front of the town hall.
There are numerous events for children including bouncy castles in the park, trampolines on Park Walk and a fun fair in Bell Street. There will also be music in the park.
