THE first Olympic distance triathlon in Weymouth and Portland - Race to the Bill - will take place on July 13 as part of the Spirit of the Sea Festival.

Race team BustinSkin, organiser of the triathlon, is primarily made up of emergency service personnel and local athletes who want to bring multi-sport to the area.

Competitor numbers for the Race to the Bill triathlon are limited to 100, and although the event is attracting people from all over the country, including novices and GB age grouper experienced triathletes, there are still places available for those who wish to enter.

The race comprises of a 1,500m swim, a 40km bike and 10km run.

It costs £39 to enter and there is a discount if you have entered a BustinSkin race before.

After the triathlon there will be a presentation and free barbecue before the Fire Station Band play at the Sailing Academy.

Marshalls and volunteers are still needed, and anyone interested can contact race director Mark Steen on mark@bustinskin.com Weymouth Cyclelife, Weymouth Scaffolding, O'Three, Aqua Sphere and Forgoodness Shakes are the main event sponsors and have provided race signs, racking, swim caps and nutrition.
