THIEVES struck at allotments near Dorchester where their haul included a complete shed and its contents.
The night-time raid also netted seats, tools and other items kept on site by allotment-holders at Charlton Down.
Mandy Richards, treasurer of the village allotments group, said: "A shed was taken and the tools in it.
"It's so disheartening. They also took some seats that had been put on what is being made into a community area."
The allotments were set out in April on land on the edge of the village and adjoining the C12 Dorchester to Sherborne Road.
Mrs Edwards said the thieves were believed to have parked a vehicle on or near that road because the stolen items were all from allotments at that end of the site.
She said: "It's possible they carried everything over the hedge to a vehicle parked there.
"We're contacting everyone to warn them about security. But who would have thought a shed would be stolen?
"It's upsetting because we're all getting on so well with the allotments." Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call PC Sandy Redford on 01305 222222.
