A KNIGHT in shining armour will walk down the aisle with his medieval princess at Portland Castle surrounded by his fellow knights and jesters.
Lee Harris, 34, and his fiancée Mel Bentley, 38, are planning a medieval-themed wedding at Portland Castle next month where the party of 50 guests will all dress up in period costume complete with jesters, a townsman and even an executioner.
Mr Harris, a software engineer from DEK said he has always had a passion for medieval re-enactments and has even made his own chain mail costumes in the past.
He said: "I suggested the idea to Mel after I proposed to her on Valentine's Day and she thought it was a really good idea.
"We were happy when our friends and family were all keen to dress up and join in too."
He added: "We could have gone really overboard with all the props and realistic things you can hire but at the end of the day we had to be realistic."
The bridegroom, of Buddleia Close, Preston, will be arriving at the castle in an aluminium suit with Celtic design and a tabard with the Harris family emblem on the front.
He will be joined by a knight as a best man and his eight-year-old son who will also be a young knight.
The knights' outfits will be finished off with a full-sized shield, swords and plumed helmets.
The bride will be wearing a specially designed medieval wedding gown with her name family emblem sewn into the material.
The 16th century castle, built by Henry VIII to ward off foreign invasion and caters for weddings all year round.
After the civil ceremony at the wedding party will head to the Hotel Rembrandt in Weymouth for a medieval banquet.
