ROUND-BRITAIN walker Seb Green is taking a break from his mammoth trek to complete his Army training.
The 18-year-old from Littlemoor, Weymouth will become a fully-fledged Territorial Army soldier after completing a two-week course at Catterick.
The walk was planned so Seb would be on the North Yorkshire coast when he made the scheduled stop.
But he has been flying ahead, building up his fitness levels and making his way up Scotland's east coast in the past week. By the time he arrives in Arbroath, Angus on Monday he will have covered more than 900 miles in 10 weeks.
Seb, who will restart the walk at the beginning of May, explained that if he did not complete the TA training now he would have to start the course all over again when he returned to Dorset later this year.
His dog Flash who has been keeping him company on the walk will be looked after by family members during his time at Catterick.
Seb, who started his walk from Weymouth on February 1, aims to raise £20,000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Starlight Children's Foundation.
He sees it as his payback' walk, having been rescued by the coastguard after taking a boat for a joyride and ending up stranded in the Fleet.
Seb is also supporting the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and will be giving sea safety talks on his return.
As he crossed the Scottish border on April 2, Seb's support team began a major fundraising drive, raising awareness of his walk among local businesses.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Officer for Dorset Mary Harper, who is leading the support network, said: "Crossing the border was a significant milestone and we felt it was the right time to start appealing to businesses for sponsorship.
"Seb is virtually a quarter of the way through his walk and ideally we'd like a quarter of the money in the kitty but we're short of that."
