GUINEA fowl have been ruffling residents' feathers in Chickerell.
Six of the birds have arrived in the village and are causing a stir as they roam Trenchard Way.
Residents say they are baffled about what to do with the birds and whether to feed them.
One resident said: "I could hear an unusual clucking in the trees.
"I came out of my house and there was a commotion outside. Everyone in the street was watching these guinea fowl.
"They seemed to be going in and out of the woods.
"They are a welcome addition but I am not sure they will last long here and we are concerned someone may have lost them."
Residents reported the birds to the RSPB at Radipole Lake, but the charity says domestic birds like guinea fowl are out of its remit.
An RSPB spokesman said the birds could have escaped from a nearby poultry farm.
