Charity soldiers appeal for help

TWO Bovington soldiers are appealing to Weymouth and Portland businesses for help with their charity mission.

Warrant officers Chris Smart and Clive Towell have set up their own charitable organisation, Charity Support, which will see them taking part in and organising a host of events to raise money for charities they care about.

The pair will be taking on the London Marathon and the Great North Run, as well as a Weymouth to London bike ride, to raise funds for charities such as Age Concern in Weymouth and Help for Heroes - a charity for injured servicemen.

They are hoping to kick-start their fundraising drive with a community raffle, which will be drawn at the Best of Dorset Tourism Show at the Pavilion on Sunday, March 16.

WO Smart said: "We would like it to be the biggest raffle that the borough of Weymouth and Portland has ever seen but we do need help.

"We would like to take this opportunity to ask all Weymouth and Portland businesses to donate a prize for the raffle, it doesn't matter how small, anything would be appreciated that could help raise funds.

"In return we would happily offer advertising space on the Charity Support website to all businesses who supply prizes."

The soldiers are also looking to hear from any local businesses that would be willing to sell tickets on their behalf.

Any business that can offer help is asked to email them at charity-support@ hotmail.co.uk For more information on the organisations and the Warrant Officers' upcoming events, visit charity-support.co.uk
