DORSET Blues legend Zoot Money headlined this Christmas blues party in Sturminster Newton.

The town's The Exchange hosted the Barrelhouse Blues Club's Christmas party, bringing an exciting year for the club to a close.

First on stage was Johnny Mars. Johnny has been singing the blues and playing the harmonica at the highest level for decades - and it's no throwaway tribute that he is described as the "Jimi Hendrix of the harmonica".

His smooth voice and moody notes were mixed with gentle encouragement as he got the crowd to their feet.

The second set featured the great Zoot Money himself, a contemporary of Georgie Fame. He treated us to some classical R & B numbers before Johnny returned with the powerful Barrelhouse Blues Orchestra for a final set with Zoot.

Zoot's early days in Bournemouth were not forgotten as he told the audience it was "great to be back in Dorset in time for Christmas".

Who could forget some of Zoot's Bournemouth shows 30-plus years ago as he jammed in the Ballroom at the Pavilion Theatre?

After this performance, Sturminster has proven that Zoot will always be welcome in Dorset and as the closing song said... the good times rolled!
