LEE CUFF will reclaim the number one jersey ahead of Bridport's Toolstation Western League Division One clash with Larkhall Athletic at St Mary's Field on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The Bees' stopper was rested for the cup match against Minehead at the weekend but will replace Lee Cleal as Royston Davies' side return to league action.

Cuff, who has spent the last few campaigns as Martin Peters' understudy, has kept just two clean sheets in 11 games since the former Terra's departure in the summer.

However, a nervous display from Cleal in the Les Phillips Cup triumph on Saturday will have done little to threaten his position between the posts.

Bridport produced a far from emphatic performance to defeat Minehead on Saturday. After racing into a 3-0 lead they allowed the Somerset side back into the game and eventually clung on for a 3-2 victory.

Davies will not want a repeat of the nerve-jangling triumph tonight. Instead he will be looking for a back to basics approach when they take the field.

The Bridport manager said: "We know what to do it is just a question of doing it. We panicked (on Saturday), even when they scored once we were still 3-1 up but we panicked. Why?"

"We tried to hit too many complicated balls and just forgot the basics," he added. "All we had to do whether winning 1-0 or 7-0 is just keep playing and doing the basics.

"Instead we stopped doing it because they gave us a bit more time. When we realised we had more time everyone started trying to do extra things with the ball."

Larkhall Athletic have won five and drawn one of their 11 league fixtures to date.

Bridport beat them 2-1 and 3-2 last term although the Bath outfit finished in fifth spot, 23 points ahead of the Bees.

Dan Wise, Andy Hall, Ben Clarke, Jon Ritchie and Anthony Cunningham inspired the double last season but not one of the quintet remains at the club.

Therefore, Davies will be looking for new heroes if they are to defeat the Charlcombe Lane side this time.
