PETER Pan, the Flintstones and crazy campers capering around were among the sights at this year's Blandford Carnival.
The carnival enjoyed bigger support than ever before with around ten floats, numerous walking entries, three majorette troops and four marching bands.
The good weather ensured that the streets were packed to watch the procession during its two-and-a-half-mile route around Blandford town centre on Saturday evening.
Organisers praised the standard and quality of the entries and thanked traders and townspeople for helping to make the event a great success.
Top quality entries included winners in the children's section Zoe Lillington, Anastasia and Shaniam Moore in the 6-12 age category who dressed as busy bees.
The Clark and Weeks families from Sturminster Newton turned themselves into convincing Transformers with the aid of cardboard boxes taking first place in the family group, the Children's ROAB Shield of Endeavour and Best Overall for Children.
Top place in the 13 years and over category were Egyptian Princesses Sally Cross and Hilary Fry.
Bertie Badger's Amazing Circus by Blandford Badgers won the Youth and School section while Mole Carnival Club from Blandford took top place in the General Class after wowing the crowds with their impersonation of Happy Feet.
Just George Carnival Club was first in the Humorous Class after tickling crowds with their entry Camping Capers.
And the Blandford Young Farmers won their class after dressing up as a collection of superheroes.
Chairman of Blandford Carnival Committee, Lilian Jones, said: "The carnival went very well. There were lots of people out on the night.
"The crowd was deep in the town centre and even at St Leonard's Avenue where it is usually pretty scattered.
"It was a lovely evening and the children all sat on the pavements with their pennies. It was lovely to see their faces. They were so enthusiastic.
"We would just like to thank everyone that took part and the traders who help us with sponsorship. Without them it couldn't succeed."
