AN investigation has been launched after an out of control car ploughed into a Bournemouth bank office in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A black Peugeot 307 automatic, believed to have been involved in the 4.45am crash at the Halifax in Old Christchurch Road, was found abandoned at Horseshoe Common.

The bank opened as usual on Saturday while workmen fitted new glass at the premises although staff refused to comment.

A Dorset police spokeswoman told the Daily Echo that they had attended the scene after receiving a call from a member of the public.

She added: “A vehicle was involved in damage to commercial premises, a road traffic collision is being investigated and one person was detained.”

The H-registration Peugeot, driven by a woman. is believed to have reversed into the front of the Halifax office.

The force of the impact tore off its rear registration plate and the off-side light was smashed. There were also scratches on the near side of the vehicle.

At the Co-operative store opposite a member of staff, who was stacking shelves, said: “Our window was smashed about three weeks ago, at around the same time.”

The smash and grab raider fled with around a dozen bottles of Champagne.

The incident is also being investigated by police.

Halifax is a Bank.

Rather a desperate way to try and get some money out of the Halifax, which is a bank, not a building society.

The Echo "cubs" don't know the difference, neither do they care.

So the woman was 'behind the wheel' when it happened. Not necessarily driving then? And why is the car being an automatic relevant? Maybe we should be told the upholstery colour, whether it had fluffy dice in the window, etc.

Was it an elderly driver , if it was so the usual age crew would have been on here or was the driver avoiding a cyclist at 0400hrs without lights.

Anyhow I bet Halifax were X

In other news, an out of control bank crashed into the lives of hard working people yesterday.

One onlooker said, "It was unbelievable, we were just going about our daily lives, planning for the future and trying to make ends meet, when these greedy arseholes just tried to take it all for themselves."

A spokesman for the bank said: "Press 1 for current accounts or 2 to speak to a customer advisor".

There have been reports that those responsible are currently sitting on a yacht eating swan pate and wiping their backsides with Harrods vouchers.

Woman should only be trusted with a mechanical item if it vibrates and can be held in one hand, and it is not a blender!

automatic is relvant as MOST accidents involving cars going through shop fronts are automatic cars that go "out of control". Meaning the dozy driver hit the wrong pedal - which is clearly a serious error

A black H reg peugeot 307?
The 307 was produced between 2001-2008 and H reg was 1990-91?

If they mean the H being the first letter of a modern numberplate then all locally registered cars no matter the age begin with H....durrrr!

Vehicle registration hasn't used letter to define the year for over 10yrs now.
