Rail strike called off
THE rail strike planned for South West Trains' services from March 31 to April 3 has been called off.
Train driver's Union Aslef has suspended the action to consider three deals offered by the company.
The union's executive will meet in mid-April to consider whether to accept it.
If it rejects it, or if members vote against a recommendation to accept, a new strike notice could be issued.
South West Trains said it has offered a 4.5 per cent pay increase in exchange for a reduction in shift length, with various deals over one, two or three years.
"The ball is in Aslef's court," a spokesman told the Echo.
Talks were held on Wednesday (March 26) and the details of the deal agreed on (March 27) morning, said Aslef.
