Tidy your gardens!

| STREET SCENE: Walker Crescent, where tenants have been warned to stop parking in gardens |
HOUSING association residents are being told: Clear up your gardens!
Tenants in Walker Crescent at Wyke Regis, Weymouth, are frustrated that their landlord, Magna Housing Group, has asked them to remove cars, caravans and trailers.
Sharon Furness, 40, who has been parking a car and a caravan on her lawn for six years, said: "I've been a tenant for 13 years so I just think it's ridiculous really, and very unfair to suddenly ask us to do this.
"This makes it very difficult for self-employed people who need to park their work vehicles at home."
Mrs Furness said a letter from Magna said if the items are not removed or a meeting arranged her file will be passed to solicitors and this could lead to her losing her home.
Neighbour Robert Kerry, 50, said he is worried about parking and is also nervously awaiting an inspection on his conservatory.
He said: "I had verbal permission from a previous housing officer but after receiving this letter my wife is in tears because we have had the house for 12 years and she thinks they are trying to evict us."
Residents' frustrations have been compounded by the sight of neighbours in private houses being free to park and erect fences on their lawns.
Magna Housing spokesman Jan Templeton said: "We received a complaint from a resident in Walker Crescent about the state of the front of the houses.
"We undertook an estate inspection which confirmed what the complaint had said so we decided to write letters to the relevant homes regarding the removal of these vehicles.
"It is part of the tenancy agreement to leave these areas clear, which is why Magna will ensure that it is adhered to.
"Although there are people who are unhappy with this there are other residents who are happy that we are trying to address the problem."

If you are priviliged to be the tenant then no doubt you must obay the rules though Magna need to ensure their housing officers do enforce the rules and hold regular inspections If a proper inspection had occured 12 years ago this and no doubt other breaches would not happen

Seems best idea would be for magna to tarmac the areas in question and make them proper parking places with droped kerbs etc. This would then avoid the need for people to park on the grass,or leave their caravans etc on the road which would be very dangerous.

Caravans do not belong on housing estates unless you have a private drive or some other form of off road parking they should be put into storage when not in use. Also grassed area's are not for parking so well done Magna.

Well really the issue is rubbish, are they not bound by contract to keep their property and the surroundings clear & clean, makes me laugh, i rent private bacause i cant be given housing by Magna, and if i damage or leave my current rented property untidy i lose my deposit.too right they should be told to keep tidy, they dont know how lucky they are!

There is no need for them all they do is clogged up the roads in the summer and are a blot on the landscape. Ban all Caravans fullstop!

THEY ARE NOT ALL BAD
P.S No i do not have a caravan.

Fisherman68 why not form your own opinion instead of copying TV (Top Gear, Brainiac etc) Caravan's really aren't an issue on the road(and no, I don't own one either, I'm a motorhomer, but just as bad in Clarkson's view I suspect) Baa!
