I am a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and work as part of my local Safer Neighbourhood Team. It is extremely important that I am out and about in the community, talking to people about local issues. PCSOs work to increase public confidence by reducing not only crime but also the fear of crime. We aim to deter anti-social behaviour and improve the physical appearance of towns and villages as well as to provide reassurance to the community. We are also a main point of contact between members of the public and the police.

My role is Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant. I manage a team of PCs, PCSOs, special constables and volunteers in tackling issues that have an impact on the community as a whole. A typical day for me involves the looking after, directing and guiding those individuals I have in my charge. It is important that I am aware of any incidents that occur on my patch, so that I can brief my team on what might be expected of them.

Welcome to the Bournemouth & Poole Division website pages, in them we have put together all the information that you may need about policing in Bournemouth and Poole. We have one simple aim, to make Bournemouth and Poole safer and feel safer. Over the last two years all crime has fallen dramatically, particularly robbery, burglary of people’s homes and vehicle crime. We have also been incredibly successful is dismantling drug networks with cash seizures of over £2 million, significant quantities of drugs seized and 14 ‘crack houses’ closed. We intend to build on this success by delivering on these commitments: We have introduced Safer Neighbourhood Teams across the whole of Bournemouth and Poole. These teams provide a consistent, regular and familiar police presence in your community. •We will encourage a stronger partnership approach towards reducing violent crime, particularly in relation to alcohol related incidents and domestic violence. •We will continue to challenge anti-social behaviour, by closing crack houses, using dispersal authorities and other enforcement methods where appropriate, and work with other agencies to tackle the root causes through prevention. •We will continue to reduce vehicle crime through the use of intelligence, enforcement and prevention tactics, bringing offenders to justice. Everyone working in the Division is totally committed to providing the very best policing service to the community, in partnership with many other local agencies and, in particular, the Borough of Poole and Bournemouth Borough Council. We pride ourselves in having a policing style in tune with the community; providing effective policing arrangements with a clear focus upon tackling criminality, offering public reassurance and providing excellent emergency response.

The force responsible for policing and crime prevention in this area is Dorset Police.
